THE WAIT’ is the captivating new single from London-based afrofusion rising star PAPARAZZLE. Serving as the lead single from his highly anticipated sophomore album Do You Believe In Soulmates? (Vol 1) that arrives on September 26, ‘The Wait’ is a tropical afrofusion and R&B slow jam steeped in patience and promise – the longing, hope and quiet ache that comes with holding on for a soulmate. Written and arranged by PapaRaZzle, with production from longtime collaborator HBEATPRO, the track is driven by PapaRaZzle’s tender melodies and a nostalgic east-sway groove, while distilling his afrofusion and afro R&B palette into something intimate and memorable, setting the emotional compass for his forthcoming album Do You Believe In Soulmates? (Vol 1).

As the final revealed chapter in the album’s romantic journey, on the back of teaser tracks ‘You And Me’, ‘Healer’, and ‘Baby Blue Jeans’, which have helped PapaRaZzle surpass half a million monthly listeners on Spotify this year, ‘The Wait’ doubles down on what fans of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Rema, or Fireboy DML already hear in PapaRaZzle – a deft genre-fluid touch and a gift for captivatingly emotive and unforgettable soul-baring hooks. On ‘The Wait’, PapaRazzle offers a graceful statement of intent for the upcoming Do You Believe In Soulmates? (Vol 1) album, introducing a world where vulnerability and devotion take centre stage, while offering music for late-night reflections and slow-burn connection, and inviting listeners to believe in love again and meet it exactly here it is.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘The Wait’ and how the track came together, PapaRaZzle says, “I wrote ‘The Wait’ from a real place. I wrote it from a perspective of me not always being able to meet up with every expectation in my romantic relationships because of other ‘real life’ factors – ‘life happens’ as they say. On the other side of things, I also have my own expectations from these relationships, which reveal themselves throughout the song, in lyrics such as ‘is it so hard to be with me? if you love me, you’d do it easily’. Ultimately though, I believe that there’s hope for a happy ending in love, regardless of our differences. That tension, between imperfect reality and my unwavering belief, is what powers the song’s heartfelt lyrics and its warm unhurried pulse”.
