Huddersfield is once again preparing to host one of the UK’s most vibrant celebrations of Black entrepreneurship and economic empowerment, as the Black Business Expo returns this summer to mark its fifth anniversary.
Taking place at the Cedar Court Huddersfield Hotel on 30th August 2025, the event promises a dynamic showcase of Black-owned businesses, thought leaders, and community changemakers from across Yorkshire and beyond. With the theme “Legacy, Leadership and the Future,” this year’s expo highlights the growing influence of Black enterprise in shaping the region’s cultural and economic landscape.
Founded in 2019, the Black Business Expo has grown from a grassroots networking event into a major regional platform that champions innovation, representation, and economic equity. Organisers say the fifth edition will be its biggest yet, featuring panel discussions, live performances, workshops, pop-up shops, and keynote speeches from prominent Black business leaders and influencers.
Empowering the Next Generation
This year’s programme includes sessions aimed at supporting youth entrepreneurship, as well as a careers and mentoring zone designed to connect aspiring professionals with successful business founders and industry mentors. From fashion and tech to food and finance, the expo showcases the diversity and excellence within the Black business community.
“Reaching five years is a huge milestone,” said the founder of the Black Business Expo. “What started as a small idea to bring Black entrepreneurs together has grown into a powerful platform for visibility, learning, and collective action. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved, and even more excited for what’s to come.”
A Hub of Inspiration and Opportunity
The expo is also a chance for attendees of all backgrounds to discover and support Black-owned brands, build connections, and engage in meaningful conversations about economic inclusion and business growth.
Local leaders and councillors are expected to attend, underscoring the event’s role in fostering dialogue between communities and institutions. Many businesses featured at past expos have gone on to secure investment, scale their operations, and become cornerstones of the regional economy.
As the UK continues to grapple with economic inequality and underrepresentation in enterprise, events like the Black Business Expo offer a vital space for visibility and empowerment.
Looking Ahead
To mark the five-year milestone, organisers are launching a digital archive and report highlighting success stories from previous expos, alongside a pledge to support 50 new Black-owned start-ups in the next 12 months through mentorship, workshops, and funding support.
The Black Business Expo stands not just as a celebration, but as a call to action, to invest in Black excellence, support inclusive growth, and shape a future where opportunity is truly equitable.
