British Soul-R&B artist GEO steps into a new era of self-empowerment with her excellent new single titled ‘MY TURN’, set for release on March 21. A bold yet introspective declaration, the song captures a pivotal shift in mindset for Geo – one that embraces self-worth, personal boundaries, and intentional energy. Produced by Geo herself, with additional contributions from longtime collaborator Steve Marshall, ‘My Turn’ builds on the foundation of her signature sound – blending organic instrumentation, soulful textures, and a deeply personal narrative. The track also features the late Reuben ‘Sleepy’ White on percussion, adding a rhythmic depth that further elevates its meditative yet resolute tone.

Lyrically, ‘My Turn’ reflects a conscious breaking of negative cycles and a commitment to growth by Geo, with lines like “water me, let me grow”; and “tell me something I don’t know” channelling her quiet but unwavering confidence, and reinforcing the song’s theme of stepping into one’s power.

The track’s musical landscape remains minimal yet intentional, allowing Geo’s ethereal vocals and poignant songwriting to take centre stage. Sonically, it carries the warmth of her influences, such as Sade, Erykah Badu, Tracy Chapman, and Nina Simone, while subtly weaving in elements of jazz, R&B, and Caribbean music sensibilities, an ever-present hallmark of her evolving artistry.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘My Turn’, Geo says, “‘My Turn’ is a declaration – drawing a circle around myself and carefully choosing what energies I let in. When writing the lyrics, I felt myself calling in energy that can strengthen me while rejecting repetitive cycles of negativity. It’s about being real with myself, owning what I bring to the table, and refusing to play small out of fear.”

As the Somerset native continues to expand her reach with international performances and a recent move to London, ‘My Turn’ serves as the first of a series of releases throughout 2025, each marking a new chapter in her creative evolution, and leading up to her highly anticipated debut project arriving in 2026.
