R&B singer India Shan has released her new single “Don’t Wanna” via Raf Riley’s label imprint Loup Ent. The sultry song is produced by Avelino and Etta Bond collaborator, Raf Riley.
Hailing from North West London and grew up attending concerts and gigs across London, India Shan’s musical journey started at The Roundhouse and is currently a resident of the performing arts and concert venue. Shan later enrolled onto the Amy Winehouse Foundation and was mentored and guided as one of the UK’s most magnetic young voices.
Shan went on to release her debut EP, Inertia in 2021 demonstrating her smothering Sade-like vocals, penchant for mixing genres such as R&B and soul, and her observational penmanship.
“Don’t Wanna” is her latest offering since then commented on the song topics: “It’s about the patterns in a relationship that aren’t necessarily healthy – wanting to try and make things work but the realisation that it’s not a functional place to be. I think that’s what defines a toxic relationship, when you’re fully aware it’s not right but you struggle to leave because the ups and downs are essentially addictive.”
Shan recently performed at The Great Escape and Roundhouse Rising and has with an upcoming show at Lake District’s 42 Degrees Festival on 15th July. Check out the music video below.
