Preyé gears us for Summer with tropical anthem “Malibu”

Nigerian singer-songwriter Preyé drops luscious summer anthem “Malibu,” the first single to be taken from her upcoming EP “Don’t Look Down”. Inspired by her trip to the Californian city, the track draws from a simple experience to build an expansive, transportive sonic world.

Combining layers of dreamy synths, smooth basslines and echoing beats for a
polished finish, the R&B-infused track builds vibrant images of summertime as warm soundscapes meet her sultry vocal delivery. While the lush yet soft instrumentals shine, the track’s hero is truly Preyé’s bold but husky vocals that flow with hypnotic ease, swirling with soulfulness leading into an airy chorus. “Malibu” strikes the perfect balance between groovy and anthemic, bringing imageries of a carefree trip to life before fading away with a soothing lull.

Having established herself as an act to watch, the rising talent was recently selected as one of six artists for Spotify’s Africa Month global campaign Spotify Sounds Of Africa, alongside LADIPOE, Zoë Modiga,  Nomfundo Moh, Chris Khaiga and Nikita Kering. With this summer-ready production following the success of her much-loved previous single “Red Wine,” Preyé is truly a star on the rise – this latest offering building anticipation for many more intricate sonic explorations to come.
