The Winning Rap Album At The 2022 Headies Awards

Olamide Gbenga Adeji who is famously known by his stage name Olamide won in the category for ‘Best Rap Album’ of the year at the 2022 Headies Awards.

He won the award with one of his best studio albums ‘Carpe Diem’. The album was released on 8th October, 2020. It is a 12-tracked album that featured hit songs such as ‘Infinity’ with Omah Lay, ‘Loading’ featuring Bad Boy Timz, ‘Triumphant’ with Bella Shmurda, ‘At Your Serveice’ among others.

Meanwhile, This award came in as the rapper’s 16th Headies win since the inception of the prestigious award – recording him as one of the highest winners of the award alongside Wizkid and Davido.

Olamide defeated Show Dem CampClone Wars Vol. 5 – The Algorhythm”, A-Q “Golden”, v“Mafia Culture, Vol. 2.0”, Ladipoe “Providence”, and Blaqbonez “Sex Over Love.

When the indigenous rapper, Olamide, was announced as winner of the Best Rap Album category, he graced the stage and delivered his speech in English.

But however, midway into his speech, the rapper quickly made it known that he had to switch to his indigenous Yoruba language. It was an action that sent the audience at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta screamed with excitement.

Later on, he took it to his Instagram handle and wrote: “I have to speak Yoruba cause I’m a fucking Yoruba demon.”

There were some interesting moments at the award ceremony which can never go unnoticed.

Nigerian singer and vocalist, Flavour, brought with him a masquerade on stage while delivering a wonderful performance for the night that left many people talking on social media platforms.

Flavour made sure to bring African authenticity to Atlanta as he stormed the stage with a masquerade.

Veteran music star, Dbanj, who received a special recognition at the 2022 Headies Award made sure to dedicate it to his former partner, Don Jazzy, an ace singer and music producer, who has been one of those people who significantly contributed to his journey.
